PS: This article is meant to be an inspiration and true story about losing my weight which i share with you people and which was once considered to be a never ending task for me.It took me exactly 7 months of effort which changed my life style, and made me not only healthy but also active.I want to share some insights about maintaining diet and an idle exercise for losing weight.I also wanted to share my reason and inspiration for losing weight. This story is a continuation wherein the second part explains the story of maintaining my body weight with a glimpse from the past. After finishing this post you can check out the ”Back to the Past“ post for continuation.
Ever since my birth i was considered to be a healthy chubby baby in our family.I noticed the change in my physical appearance suddenly which was all due to my food intake.I was so happy and desperate to have junk, fried and oily foods in my childhood days.I was meant to be fan of chocolates, cakes and Ice creams off-course kids are always fond of it you may say but for me it was too much.I gained my weight abruptly at the age of 12 wherein my weight was considered to be alarmingly abnormal. The ideal weight for any kid at standard(std) 4 should be 25Kgs mine peaked to almost 35.As i aged my weight almost doubled at std 5 i was 40kg, std 6 i was 45kg, std 7 i was 54 kg, std 8 it was 68kg, std 9 it was 75 kg and std 10 almost 93 kgs…Woah!! Woah this is unbelievable you might think i have a proof for it.I still do have my high school std 10th photo with me, which you can notice below.
Source of Inspiration:
1.FIFA world cup and its promotional song.
2.Rocky series
3.Jogging,Running
4.Samsung android mobile “Cardio Trainer” App
5.Dieting (Which i am doing right now to maintain my BMI(Body Mass Index rate)
It all started while i was studying my masters M.Tech Biomedical Engineering at Manipal University. After the completion of my second semester exams, we had holidays at that point of time. The 3rd and the final semester we need to do project (1 full year project as per the course norms)It was that time the FIFA world cup started and i got my 1st inspiration in year 2010 (In the mid month of June i suppose if i am not wrong).
Watching at the star players running behind the ball inspired me, motivated me,it was also the time when (my mind started to notice )and i decided that no matter whatever happens to my curriculum’s project, good, bad or ugly i don’t care. All i want to do is to be fit enough at the project presentation day(day of Viva), i visualized myself and wondered, how i would be if i was thin!!. Then the FIFA song by K’naan’s “When i get older i will be stronger” inspired me and it was one of my anthem in the list of songs i chose. The most inspiring one was from training soundtrack from movie “Rocky I”.
Since kid i watched almost all Rambo and Rocky series from Slyvester Stallone. As he mentions in one of his and my favorite rocky movie (Rocky 4: “If i can change…Then you can change…If you can change…Then everyone can change”). But the training montage (“Gonna Fly now”) of rocky inspired, motivated me and was one of my classic hit list song for “Jogging”. Yes you heard right i started to jog, initial days were crucial ones, i struggled with pain almost daily. But i didn’t lose my hope, everything was fixed right in front of my eyes. When i started my initial round of jogging i was around 106Kgs believe me it was one of the toughest days of my life and running was not a joke.Burning calories is like being in a war zone and getting shelled by your enemies. You need to jog or walk exactly 3-4Km idle which requires/consume 40 mins of your daily time which is indeed for your betterment.
Yes min 40 min of exercise is a must for almost everybody, physical exercise increases your sleep and also helps in better metabolism of the body.
Believe me i could not even run for almost quarter yard in the park, sweaty, tired in the middle of the month i thought of quitting, but the mind pushed me beyond its limits.Later i heard from someone that all it takes is “21 days”.
Yes you better hear me right just 21 days later whatever you pursue will become a habit within this short time the difference between the believer and the Do’er matter. So i got excited after completing 21 days, i monitored my running pace using my new android mobile phone’s(At that time.. 2010) app “Cardio trainer” believe me guys it is one of the best app i have ever or never seen in my whole life.I am thankful to this App and also in later stage of my training i downloaded the App “Virtual gym” its also one of the best fitness Apps ever.I still have these two on my phone, but with the busy work schedule i am not using it much now. After a while i thought of participating for the marathon in my work place which happens every year, you know what i did compete in the marathon and completed my 1st 10Km run in the first year of my joining to my company and competed for 4 KM run the very next year.It was really an amazing experience, life changes so rapidly you know and it feels so good!!.
“I lost around 20Kg’s by the process of jogging in 7 months from 106 to 85Kgs Phew!!!!!”
I am stuck to my diet regime nowadays.Losing weight is not a easy task, there may be chances of gaining weight again so better to take care on diet. while jogging, i also took a rigorous diet regimes , I was Non Vegetarian previously, this fact is not known to many of my friends.I make a small confession as this article is said to be true and there should be one’s a sincere and honest approach. This is a part of my life few pages of my autobiography where i need to be honest.Yes I was a Non Vegetarian once, i used to love Egg and Chicken like anything.I changed my attitude and i now say that “If you want to gain something you need to loose something” and this is considered to be my policy. So i quit Non veg including Egg and its been almost 2 years. Now i feel so active and my mind feel refreshing, at the time of my conception i didn’t had any idea about its side effects. What i noticed from the meat is that it makes you feel dull and drowsy after the consumption.I also had occasional alcoholic preferences which i quit in the month of Jan 2012.So i feel lighter and peaceful, may be i am clearing all my past karma’s who knows?..
Food plans which i am applying in my daily lifestyle.
Breakfast@ 9Am: Medium to High calories( Fruit bowl,Sand-witch/ (Indian style-Idly,Vada,sambaar)
Lunch @ 12:30 Pm:Very High calorie.(Full Indian Meals consisting of vegetable curry,rice,chapathi/roti (form of a wheat bread)
Dinner @ 5Pm: I will have it in the evening with Medium calorie food(Whatever i took for the breakfast).
I prefer to drink water in empty stomach in early morning as it is very good for your stomach and intestines. It cleanses all the acid which was formed in your stomach while you were asleep.Yes stomach generates HCL(Hydrochloric Acid) for digesting food. These are my tips and i do believe after reading this post you will be inspired.I hope my post will never make you down,i wanted to share my feelings to you all.I expect you to surpass me by gaining a better health by taking this as a note of motivation..I want you to be a part of this community and share the post to all your loved ones
I end this post leaving behind one of my own self motivating quote
“Inspire to live and live to Inspire”………………………………………Sandesh S

@Rex While running always try to “Breathe from your nose” lots of people breath through their mouth..Its a key thing to help your lungs oxygenated!! and try to run as slowly as possible and improve the laps daily by one.And while completing a single round fake your mind by telling it that you are just started to run your first round. This is how i used to chatter mentally that i still have 1 more extra lap to run …
“Hope it was informative”
