TUTORIAL: Create animated image ( Easy, Free and Secure).

The abbreviation “GIF” stands for “Graphics Interchange Format,” but you don’t need to remember that.
What you should know is that a GIF is a compressed image file format. So, follow on this post to create animated image. Your own, custom made!

An animated GIF is a graphic file type that is composed of many different images on top of each other.
These images are compressed and will work together, creating movement, and give the appearance of a mini movie!!

Some ‘Analysis’ and tips…

Animated Gif images are commonly used in :

  • Web pages,
  • Tutorial clips,
  • Funny animations,
  • Chatting and instant messaging applications,
  • e-mails,
  • Social networking sites,
  • As a screen saver or wallpaper in your mobile phones, PC, Tablets etc.. (Most of the modern mobile phones support gif animation).

 

#NOTE: In a computer, to view a GIF image, it is better to use a browser (IE, Firefox, Chrome,Opera,Safari, etc… )
and not a ‘Image Viewer’ like MS-Photo Viewer, Picasa… etc… since image viewers will not render the dynamic movements.

How to create animated image?

That said, lets move on and learn how to create a GIF image easily, freely and securely!

Problem:

There are some premium and secured softwares which may help you… but they are not free!
There are online creators but will have limitations and securtiy threats!

Solution:

A free-ware photo editor called  “Photoscape” !
Its Free, secure and easy to use . Plus, its available for both Linux and Windows systems.

You can not only created Animated images but also do some serious photo editing and adding effects.(if you want to).

Step by Step Tutorial:

Things you need:

1) Working Computer with either Windows or Linux operating system.
2) Install the Freeware ‘Photoscape’  in your computer…  Click here to know more.
3) All the images you would combine and animate to be in your local system storage.
4) This tutorial!

Step 1: Open the program ‘Photoscape’ after you install it.

Step 2: Select ‘Gif image’ from the options as shown below.

Step 3: On the left hand side panel, navigate to the folder where you have kept the files to be combined.

In my case, its on the Desktop/Infomandala/Animated Gif

Step 4: Select the images that you wish to animate.. Do some trial and error with it. It is fun to create animated image

Alt Step 4:  If you don’t want to navigate in the left hand side panel, you can just open up the folder in explorer and then Drag and Drop the files/photos that you wish to animate.

Step 5: Choose the file size, width, height, etc on the right hand side. By this time, you will be getting the preview of the animation already!

Step 6: Do some Additional settings Like Changing the time delay, changing the Size, Background color etc..to create animated image..

Just do some trial and error!

Step 7: Save it !!!  You are done….Congradulations on following the tutorial to ‘create animated image’
